The purpose of this study is using treatment successful according to clinical outcoome and using life quality according to humanistic outcome for total evaluation to compare the difference between life quality on benign enlarged-prostate patient who has been treated by oral medicine or surgery. This study was a quasi- experimental design to explore the effects on life quality between the two different treatments. The reliability and validity-tested instruments were used in this study as followings: the patient?s questionnaire about life quality and International Prostate Symptom Score,IPSS(the definition of successful is to fall IPSS 30%). During November of 2001 to April of 2002, a total of 200 samples that were diagnosed as mid-level clog enlarged prostate were drawn from outpatient clinic in a Taipei medical center. There were two groups in this study; 100 patients were included in oral medicine treatment (used the same medicine), and another 100 were treated by surgery.After treating for six mons,we let patients anser the questionnaire about life quality and IPSS for the second time.There are 100 people in each two groups coming back to the opd to anser the questionnaire.The collecting rate can approach to 100%. According to this study, the results stated that the surgery patients and oral medicine treatment had much more progress than before treatment on the life quality and IPSS. There was no notable difference on life quality between the groups after six months. Surgery patients had much more progress than oral medicine treatment on the IPSS. But no notable difference on successful between the groups after six months. The results of this study may offered an important reference to the hospital administrators and nurses who dedicated decision-making and quality care to the service. |
