This report was a nursing experience of a woman with chronic schizophrenia, who was admitted to the psychiatric ward due to using overdose of sleeping pills. Then she was sent to the hospital for help. During admission, sleeping disturbance, lack of motivation and desire about activity, and chronic low self-esteem were detected via nursing assessment. The Watson's theory of nursing, supportive therapy, and behavior therapy were applied in the nursing process to the client. One month later, the sleep disturbance was improved. The participation of the ward activity had a positive change from being passive to active. Social interaction, and chronic low self-esteem were significantly improved through social skill training and supportive therapy. The plan of the daily activity after discharge was also scheduled and proceeded aggressively by the patient. Finally the patient returned to the community smoothly. |
