This article sorts out the military operations after Jin State and Lu State signed the second ''Mi Bing'' in 546 B.C., and infers two restrictions of it which demanded the member states to obey. The first is no war to other states except ethnic minorities. The second is to allow non-aggressive military operations, such as assisting other states in calming down civil strife or maneuvering exercises. According to these two restrictions, this article surveys to the operations of Chu State. It had continuously attacked other states which were the member states of ''Mi Bing'' since 538 B.C. Even earlier in 533 B.C. and 531 B.C., it defeated Chen State and Cai State, and then ruled their territories as its own districts. Therefore, the time frame which was no longer in force for the ''Mi Bing'' was in 538 B.C., and it was no late than the inter-States meeting of ''Zhao Ling'' in 506 B. C. The agreement of ''Mi Bing'' lasted only 13 years. |
