In recent years, Chinese President Xi Jinping advocated the ''Asia Pacific dream'' as a new concept for regional diplomacy. In fact, in 2013-14, not only did countries neighboring China and regional organizations make up nearly half of Xi's diplomatic overtures, many phrases and slogans that emerged from these activities caught the attention of media. An example of such a phrase is Xi's statement of the Chinese saying of ''cousins wish cousins well and neighbors wish neighbors well'' (qinwangqinhao linwanglinhao) at the 2014 Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building measures in Asia (CICA). On the other hand, in Indonesia, Xi pointed out the connections between the community of destiny between China and ASEAN, the ASEAN Community and the East Asian Community, and proposed the establishment of the ''community of destinty.'' In Korea, Xi proposed the realization of the correct view of righteousness. In Mongolia, Xi responded directly to the concern of bandwagoning and welcomed neighboring countries to join the bandwagon of China's development. In India, Xi emphasized the need for the joint establishment of a peaceful Asian Century. Taking into account Li Keqiang's statements as well, it is clear that China has undertaken a strong initiative towards Asian diplomacy. |
