In mainland China, big data of law such as judgments published online provides rich and vivid research materials, and greatly promotes theinnovation and development of legal research. Large amount of data canhelp to observe the law enforcement situation comprehensively, conductquantitative legal research and promote the development ofinterdisciplinary cooperation in legal research. The research paradigmrelating to big data lays more emphasis on applying the method of socialscience which combines qualitative method with quantitative method. Bigdata itself is not a golden trick. To fully dig the value of big data, we needto deal with the challenges of data quality, information extractiontechnology and research methods. We also need to properly handle therelationships between innovation and inheritance, law and technology,overall situation and details. By employing the multi-dimensional andinterconnected nature of big data, we hope to study Chinese legal experience more effectively and develop theories that are in line withChina’s reality. |
