Sport offers a vehicle for representing a set of skills; it also enhances individual’s personal qualities, such as, aggressiveness, collaboration, dedication, self-control and developing responsibility. The term “masculinity” on other hand, can also fully describe aforementioned personalities and has a strong association with sports. The fact that sports and masculinity are closely linked has its historical consequences as well as social factors; in this case, both of the attributions help to cultivate personal growth. However, by simply considering sports and masculinity share a great amount of similarities can be viewed as an example of overgeneralized, hence confines itself to the phase-diversity concept. Based on the connection between sports and masculinity, this study proposes three distinct notions which are representation of multiple traits, the diversities of body expressions and strategy-oriented differentiations. Moreover, the similarities and dissimilarities between sports and masculinity create a great range of flexibility which also qualifies what so-called “family resemblance”.
