This paper discusses how Dragon Dancing is evolved from ceremonial ritual in the folk culture into a sporting event in Miaoli, and analysis the transfiguration and the expansion as well as the connection between the Hakka culture and the multi-Dragon Dancing activities.
Miaoli Dragon Bombing is the cultural inheritance developed from Han’s Dragon Lantern Dancing. Under the management, marketing and promotion of the government, Dragon Bombing becomes associated with Hakka and is one of the twelve major festivals in the regions today. Step by step, the development of Dragon Dancing becomes more secular rather than sacred. The arising of sports Dragon Dancing on campus provides an opportunity to transforms all the religious techniques common in the traditional Dragon Bombing, these transformations define Dragon Dancing as a delicate and artistic sporting event.
