This study is a practical example of the Yunlin County government Dounan Township and Shueilin Township plan to develop historic, cultural, and economic interests in traditional arts and crafts. We suggest an “Integration of value-added design” approach and advocate coordination with local government agencies to gradually implement Taiwan’s "One Town One Product" (OTOP) policy and provide growth for local industries, and expand operations and local industries, so that between the basic concepts through the cultural and creative industries, aesthetics, design, etc., will be featured in the life of industrial goods, packaging design aesthetics, let the industry were brought into the "Innovation" elements, combined with "R & D strength," "cultural power" and "power of design." This paper describes how traditional arts and crafts often fall behind modern industrial goods because they lack modern packaging and little time is spent on research and design. Designers and innovators can suggest new ideas, perhaps by integrating cultural skills and re-inventing traditional designs. Important skills are thus retained, the traditional cultural arts industry is maintained, and local employment opportunities are created. This also sets the groundwork for a globalization of the local economy. |
