The most important function of university libraries is to provide learning and research reference collection materials for teachers and students. Electronic databases make the tangible building extend outside the walls. With the development of internet and electronic communications product, knowledge gathered and collected in the cloud. Through the identification of ident ity, users can expand the access of information without limits in time and space. Since it is easy to use, teachers and students rely heavily on electronic databases, but its price is relatively more expensive. Additional with the trend of the budget reduction in universities, we must pay more attention to the positive and negative factors of the development and use of electronic databases, so that we can utilize and allocate library resources more efficient. This study found that the more students use physical library, the more they use electronic databases. It has associated impacts to the electronic databases usage whether students have computers and information equipment at home or not. Compared to junior students, senior students use electronic databases more often. The usage toward electronic databases of College of Science & Engineering and College of Informatics students are higher than College of Humanities and Social Sciences students, and it displays that there is also a relationship between colleges and databases usage. The suggestions of this study are that libraries should make good use of numerous walking users for more efficient marketing strategy to encourage them to use electronic databases, and to pursuit the maximum benefit of resources. |
