In Critique of Judgement, Immanuel Kant proposed disinterestedness of taste judgement, which has become the theoretical origin of modern aesthetics, but it has been criticized for many years. Arnold Berleant reformed it, and incorporated it into environmental aesthetics and aesthetics of engagement. Does Berleant's reform succeed? This article tries to answer it, and claims that Berleant's criticism of disinterestedness actually proved that Kant's aesthetics is unavoidable. These views could be used as education of aesthetics. |
