The purpose of the article focused on the abused teenage girls' change experience of the treatment process in the residential setting arrange for the reasons of domestic violence, sexual abuse, loss dependence, and deviation behavior. The data was collected from ten teenage girls by individual interview and seven workers by focus group interview. It was found that the key factor was change intention and motivation that drive change within the girls. There were three sections of change factors: environmental, personal and supportal factors. The environmental factors were stable life and home warmth in the residential setting. The personal factors were change motivation through planning for the future, determine the target, flexible thinking, self disclosure, expressing feelings, establishing an emotional connection, improving communication skills, correcting negative behavior, self control, and increasing learning interest. The social supportal factors were family and peers support. The suggestions and implications of the findings were discussed for residential settings, livingcare counselors, and social workers. |
