The Application of Medical Ethics in Social Work

自從文藝復興及宗教改革以來，人類對我有了新的發現意識到生命的價值與尊嚴不應由外界來界定，而是每一個人都有權利去肯定自己並選擇生命的走向尋求存在的意義。這個自我意識的提升雖然肯定了生命的價值，但在每一個人都強調自我的重要性過程中，人與人之間的衝突必然發生。經歷了戰爭的悲傷與折磨之後，人類也學習到自我不能脫離社團而獨自存在，人類必須在群體的互動中，我、你、他大家一起成長，相互提攜同心合作向前邁進，人類社會之福祉才能得以落實。不過人類在互動過程中，由於每一個人的價值觀不盡相同，完成工作之方法也未必類似，當自我意識過份提升而堅持已見時，和諧將會被破壞，人際關係也變得緊張。不只是個自的問題，群體的粉爭也接踵而來，人類如何去面對呈出無窮的困境，重新塑造和諧促進共同福祉呢？

Both medical service and social work care about people’s wellbeing. The medical concern however is physically-oriented while social work is holistically-oriented. Though medicine also regards integral understanding of health as importance, the main attention is focused on physical aspects. Quite often, clinician refers his patient to social work department for further help once the physical illness of patient has been taken care of, because the patient still suffers from social, psychological, economical or spiritual problems.
