Recent years, increased amount of natural disasters, such as floods, earthquakes, and tsunamis, have caused numerous property and human casualties, and therefore, people are more aware of household emergency equipment. Emergency light devises and electric torches are the common household emergency equipment; however, during emergency situations people usually cannot find their emergency equipment and even if they did, it is usually out of battery. Thus, the study focuses on synergizing the function of power switch with emergency light source for power switch devices in order to improve cost-effective value and meet customer demands. The study is based on the systematic method of Value Engineering (VE), which values the system's output and optimizes the performance (function) and costs. Through this technology, we have improved the overall performance and outcome of the designed product, maximized budgets, reduced product life cycle costs, and created better working relationships. |
