唐詩中的珍禽書寫

The Representation of Zhēn Qín in Tang Poetry

本文以唐詩中的「珍禽」書寫為研究，就《全唐詩》的文本，探討珍禽的物種，暨其所延伸的文學主題或文化意涵。珍禽多數被視為外觀優美（被帝王貴族或商賈所豢養）的鳥類物種；但就其「珍」意而言，同樣也指涉人類高潔而善美的靈魂，作為君臣人倫的隱喻，凡此皆本文所要觀察的面向。再者，本文也嘗試從「凡鳥」與「惡鳥」的範疇中，層層檢視唐代詩歌中「珍禽」的種類，以及其涵攝的相關主題與寓意。

This paper intends to elaborate the theme of zhēn qín (rare bird) in Tang poetry and to explore both the literary denotations and cultural connotations concerning diverse rare birds by means of scrutinizing the texts collected in Quan Tangshi. I will argue that rare birds are cherished for their conspicuous beauty and for their profound metaphoric significance as well. Rare birds--especially those treasured by royal families and merchants--are generally regarded as precious species because of their graceful and elegant features. Moreover, the Chinese character zhēn (珍) not only connotes the goodness and nobleness of human souls but also signifies the Confucian humanism about the relationship between ruler and subject. Furthermore, I will analyze the related topics and allegories of certain stereotypes such as ordinary birds and evil birds via casting a new light on the categories of rare birds in Tang poetry.
