'Otaku's Goddess'' is an original signification in Taiwan, and it has been widely used since its first debut in 2008. Drawing on Fiske and Hartley (1978/2003)'s the framework of ''Orders of Signification'', the study focused on ''Otaku's Goddess'' in three dimensions, which are text, society, and culture. Second Data from the 2007 to 2019 Google search engine for ''Otaku's Goddess'' online texts revealed three findings. First, the self-contain signification of ''Otaku's Goddess'' has been changed from ''young women found by the Otaku'' to ''any young women with fancy appearances'' in these years. Second, sensation and female figures are commonly optimized by online users. Third, though diverse discourses related to ''Otaku's Goddess'' have appeared after 2014, the representation of ''Otaku's Goddess'' are still under the ideologies of paternal hegemony. Therefore, implications and further directions were discussed. |
