This study attempts a comparison of adaptation group intervention effectiveness on spiritual health of new staff nurses in a Southern Taiwan Medical Center. From June 19, 2012 to January 21, 2013, we targeted 67 new staff nurses in a Medical Center of Southern Taiwan. They should participate in adaptation groups four times. Adaptation groups content include two parts of ' spirituality courses ' and ' forum discussion '. New staff nurses completed the spiritual health scale on their first working day, one month, and six months after. Following the adaptation group intervention, the spiritual health of the new staff nurses significantly improved;, 0.40 sub (p <.01) in the one month with improvement to 0.37 sub (p <.01) in the six months after. As all new nurses were involved in adaptation groups, the study was unable to obtain information from any control group, and this is the limitation of this study. It is recommended that hospitals provide adaptation groups for new staff nurses, use spirituality courses, and set up communication for forum discussion to improve new staff nurses' spiritual health. |
