“Prior Release” is formulated for imported products which are required for examinations that take more than five days, of difficulty when sampled in the container yard, perishable, or transported in bulk without appropriate storage place in wharf. In this article, we summarized the international agreement and border control practices of the United States, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, and the European Union on food imports. The related requirement for the prior release stipulated system in “Act Governing Food Safety and Sanitation” and “Regulations of Inspection of Imported Foods and Related Products” were also outlined. This short review concluded imported products are regulated at border based on their risk coming countries. The prior release system is applied in order to block unqualified products from into Taiwan, while fit border control details and according to the properties of the imported products. |
