The jnds were obtained by using the three-category constant method along the dimension of volume of cubes. The standard stimuli consisted of the cubes of 8, 15.625, 27, 64, and 125cm3. The standard and veriable stimuli for judgments were placed at eye level 2.5 m away. It was found that the Weber fraction decreases rapidly at first and then slowly on the stimulus dimension in terms of volume. This function is in accord with those obtained in simple sense modalities. The relationships among the Weber fractions for one-, two-, and three- dimensional cases are discussed. In geometry, a two-dimentional figure is constructed by a set of lines or curves according to some way, and a three-dimensional object can be analyzed into surfaces. Thus, given a set of curves or surfaces and the relations among them, we can construct unequivocally a two-dimensional or three-dimensional figure. |
