The government of Taiwan area has listed medical tourism as a key project of development, yet after a decade since its implementation, the development of medical tourism is stagnant due to the negligence of the blind spots resulting from policy execution. This study focused on the medical tourism operators, and adopted interviews and thematic analysis to collect the data. N-VIVO10 was used for data analysis, in order to discuss the current problems in Taiwan area's promotion of medical tourism. According to the views of the eight participants from the medical community, travel agencies, and hotel operators, the obstacles include limitation due to exclusive laws, a lack of long-term government attention, language restrictions, and counseling mechanisms. As a result, it was found that participants had a high degree of consensus on the lack of long-term government attention (with a total coverage of 62.33% from the three groups and between-group difference± 6.33). It is suggested that the government should pay attention to the policy immediately and plan an integrated platform to make the operation of the medical tourism industry more sustainable. |
