Patient Right to Autonomy Act of Taiwan is implemented in 2019. This paper presents the point of view from a medical doctor's experience in participation of the implementation and experience with the treatments of terminal patients. I presents briefly the medical expenses for terminal patients and the four biomedical principles prevalent among medical professional of Taiwan. This paper then shares some difficulties in its implement and suggests how to solve some of the issues, especially in the formal expression of patients' living will, and the remaining dilemmas with the participation of patients' family in the procedure. |
