Akutagawa Ryūnosuke's “The Christ in Nanking” and Flaubert

芥川龍之介〈南京的基督〉發表於《中央公論》一九二○年七月號。作者在篇末寫道：「草擬此篇，多依谷崎潤一郎氏所作〈秦淮的一夜〉，特附筆致謝」。作家這一自行注明出典的行為，其實是為掩蓋〈南京的基督〉作品題材的真實來源而施的障眼法。居斯塔夫•福樓拜的〈聖朱利安傳奇〉才是真正的來源。

Akutagawa Ryūnosuke published his short story “The Christ in Nanking” on Chuōkoron July 1920. At the last part of the story, the writer claims that he owes very much to “A Night in Qinhuai” by Tanizaki Jun!ichiro in creating his own work. This explanation by the author himself, however, was a kind of camouflage for the real material. Actually, Akutagawa depended on “St. Julian ” by Gustave Flaubert.
