The survey done by Taiwan's banking industry in 2018 finds that the total assets of top 310,000 individuals exceeded the annual GDP of Taiwan in 2017. Meanwhile the Central Bank reported that in 2017 per capita GDP in Taiwan was lower than that of South Korea, Hong Kong and Singapore. It shows that Taiwan may face uneven wealth and stagnant economic growth. In response to this situation, international initiatives have adopted inclusive development which means each economic individual should develop equitably in the process of promoting nationals well-being, social security, environmental sustainability, and basic rights. This paper cites the calculation method of the Inclusive Development Index of the World Economic Forum and calculates Taiwan's inclusive development index. It found that compared with developed economies, promoting economic growth and narrowing the gap between the rich and the poor should be the focus of Taiwan's future development. It is recommended that inclusive development be promoted in Taiwan. |
