Six Discussions on Yang Shuda’s Philological Hermeneutics

楊樹達為我國文字訓詁名家，考釋經典、章句訓詁融會經史，時有創見。然細審其說，楊氏論點仍有誤讀章句、過度詮釋之處，更有濫用通叚之失。本文就楊氏所論〈《左傳》軍實解〉等六例與之商榷，期能探析其訓解上之侷限與缺失，肯定楊氏貢獻之餘，為其指瑕，並彰顯經傳舊注仍有其重要性，不必貿然翻案，避免誤釋產生。 Yang Shuda, as one of the famous Chinese exegesis scholars, had amalgamated the classics and historic literatures and had his distinct opinions in hermeneutics and exegesis in exploring classics. However, if we carefully review his claims, Yang’s opinions had some pitfalls of misreading of sentences, over-hermeneutics, and overuses of interchangeabilities. This thesis discusses six examples of Yang’s theories of Jun Shi Jie of Zuo Zhuan in order to explore Yang’s limitations and pitfalls. While affirming Yang’s contributions, the author points out his pitfalls as well. The author also manifests Yang’s importance of the old notes of the classics, and we should not easily reverse Yang’s theories in order to avoid mis-hermeneutics.
