Purpose of this research is to understand the usage of Conjunctions inLetter of Request by Japanese learner in Taiwan so as to identifypotential problems. Author collected the letters from intermediate,advanced learners and Japanese native speakers. Based on the aspects ofImpression Formation and Cohesion, application of the Conjunction byeach group is compared and analyzed.Result shows that 5 types of Conjunction including Causal,Adversative, Additive, … etc are used by learners. Each individualexhibits personal preference of the usage and problems. Other finding isthat some learners use verbal and perceptive type Conjunctions. Thesecould generate certain negative image to others. Conclusion of theanalysis indicates several potential causes. However these problems canbe improved dramatically when the learners upgrade themselves fromintermediate to advanced level with the increasing in the relatedknowledge and understanding. |
