The aim of this research is to study Taiwan Japanese learner’s pause in makingemphasis as well as to analyze the Japanese learner’s pause problem by comparing thedifference in between the native Japanese speaker and Japanese learner. The results of theanalysis are as the following:The characteristic of the native Japanese speaker making emphasis is to pause before orafter the emphasized sentence or before and after the emphasized sentence. However, theJapanese learner not only pauses before or after the emphasized sentence but also pausesbefore and after other non-emphasized sentences. In addition, the analysis result also provesthat this learning issue is not related to the period of time in learning Japanese. In otherwords, the learner will not be able to naturally learn the pause for making the emphasizedtone as they learn Japanese for a longer time. In general, the Japanese learner’s talking speedis slower and the pause time is longer compared to the native Japanese speaker. |
