This paper proposes the design and implementation of a 10 kWhard-switching dc/dc booster converter. The maximum operating efficiencyand power losses allocation of circuit elements used in theconverter are also explored. Switching transients in the boost converterare also considered and reduced by using a snubber circuit. An L-C filteris used at the output terminal of the converter to achieve stable dc outputvoltage. In order to obtain high conversion efficiency in a high power operating situation, this paper discuses the specifications selection ofcircuit elements used in the converter. Finally, a 10 kW hardwareprototype is implemented. Use of an infrared thermal imagine analyzeridentifies energy losses of circuit elements in the converter. Experimentalresults show that the conversion efficiency can reach above 95% at fullpower output. |
