A hybrid solar-wind power conversion system with energy managementis designed and realized in this paper. This system adopts a dc-dcboost power converter as well as the perturb-and-observe algorithm formaximum power point tracking (MPPT) of solar and wind generation to achieve the most effective use of renewable energy. In addition, the dc-dcbuck-boost chopper is also proposed as battery regulation for systemmanagement, to improve the reliability of the system. In addition, athree-phase three-level inverter is implemented because of its superiorharmonic quality. Furthermore, the proposed system can be operated eitherin a stand-alone fashion or connected with a utility grid to achieve adistributed generated system. A prototype 520 W hybrid power conversionsystem is realized to provide proper power in grid-connected operationor 220 V, 60 Hz rated line-voltage for a stand-alone station. The experimentalresults show the efficiency of the whole system is 83%. Furthermore,the total harmonic distortion of the line voltage is 2.7%, whichmeets IEEE Std. 519. |
