The ''Fantasy'' which is located on the ground floor of the National Science and Technology Museum (hereinafter referred to as NSTM) will be renewed soon, therefore, a front-end evaluation for planning the purposes, themes and directions of the future exhibition was used. By informal observation, formal visitor testing and interviews with parents, focus groups and museum experts, the original planning setting was evaluated to see whether it matched with the audience's expectations. The results of the study were: the purpose ''to allow visitors to know different cultures of the world and related scientific inventions to expand the world view of children'' was in accord with visitors' expectations. For the themes and contents of the exhibition renewal, the audience wanted to know more about the snow world and tropical islands, which gave the curator the direction of using landscapes of such to introduce relevant local animals, plants, customs and daily science. “Play” will be the major presentation method and self-exploration will be focused more than the parent guided one in order to develop children's own thinking and creativities. The whole exhibition gallery will be arranged bright and open, and more resting area for parents will be prepared to meet their needs. The future renewal of ''Fantasy'' will be designed and planned to meet the above mentioned expectations of the audience. |
