The National Science Technology Museum (NSTM), Kaohsiung, Taiwan, is the first museum sets up “the Open Storage” as a permanent exhibition in which conservational education programs as trainings for conservators are held. The students who attend the educational programs not only learn the restoration and preservation of collections, but also act as performers in the storage to show how to preserve museum collections. The NSTM wants to use the program to interact with the visitors and to convey the idea that the museum is not only to hold exhibitions but also takes care of cultural relics. This study on the educational workshop at the Open Storage of the NSTM is a qualitative research which information was gathered by interviews with 15 students in order to find out their reflection and experiences of the education programs. |
