The cultural tourism is one of the most important modes of heritage reuse. It gains popularity through cultural activities, exhibitions and cultural festivals. Among them, the experiential activities attract more attention of visitors. A cultural experiential activity is similar to a piece of theater performance. Its success often depends on its performers. By using the theory of environmental theater, we investigate the experiential activities of working holiday at Budai-Jounan Salt Field. We discover four types of performers which created by previous salt workers and new recruits. These creations result from their local knowledge as well as their body movement when working in the salt-field. This finding helps us to rethink the importance of integrating the body ”preparation” of working at the salt field to the creation of experiential activities. |
