The digital collection is an important asset to a museum. Besides conservation and maintenance, how to use these wealthy and knowledge-valued digital resources in creative designs and development will be the challenge of our museum in the future. Especially, when we face the competitions from other museums, it would be to our advantage to create value-added knowledge and maintain our competitive superiority. The plan is to apply the concept of value-added network to process the creation and management of knowledge. By means of constructing a distance network exhibition and education platform, it would be useful to help our museum integrate many exhibitions and education resources into network instructive courses. These courses are also utilized in the distance network exhibitions and education activities repeatedly. At the same time, the teaching materials can be also promoted in schools for national 9-year imtegrated curriulum policy. It can also help teachers develop and edit the lesson plans with this value-added network platform. If the plan can be established, it would change our exhibition and education style and become an important feature of National Science and Technology Museum. This study discusses how to use a multi-media teaching tool developed by a private company to deliver the digital collection of printing industrial technology at the Science and Technology Museum over a distance network instructive platform. The value-added processes can be divided into five steps. First is to collect and analyze materials. Second is to work out a teaching plan. Third is to edit the contents. Fourth is to record the course. Last is to establish and manage the learning platform. The purpose is to design and develop a series of courses in the subject of printing industrial technology. It starts from museum technology education activity. By inviting teachers and students to participate in course designs on a network learning platform, we can combine museum resources in collection, exhibition and education to create value-added contents and promote them on the Internet. We hope to strengthen the ability of producing E-learning multi-media courses by cooperating with private technology companies and improve the learning effect of multi-unit exhibitions. |
