History reflect both the past and the future, both the positive and negative aspects of a situation. The history of science in China has gone through periods of uncertainty and indecision, and in its current relatively weak state must look to the West for some of its technology. But what was it like for our ancestors? The people of Tai wan have enjoyed peace and prosperity in the past few years. But what does history have taught us about what will be in the future? And what the next generation can learn from the history? This article intends to explore the collections of the science Museum in Kaohsiung in light of the history of development in science and technology. At first, the article will focus on the meaning of research and development of scientific history, and what these events portend for the future here; this can then be applied to determining the direction the science museums take in its future efforts. Next we examine the integration and interaction of functions of collection, education, exhibition in science museums while the research of scientific history is the bone marrow of all these functions. All these aspects, the exterior and the content, are both needed to give the museum its full significance. And the last portion is the construction of the historic framework of museum collections. Only through the study of history to reflect the humanity contents, the artifacts can truly reveal their meaning. There are several critical points which are worthy to be further discussed. |
