This study aims to explore the impacts of indigenous social capital on happiness, and to provide suggestions for promoting happiness of indigenous people living in tribes. It shows that either bonding, bridging or linking social capital has produced certain benefits for happiness or well-being of tribal people and brought some negative effects or cost. The following suggestions are proposed: (1) to sense and face that some costs need to be paid following the tribal openness, and to consider their possible impacts on indigenous happiness; (2) to reinforce supportive function of family and neighbor on affective happiness through providing family and tribal supportive projects; (3) to create more participative and interactive opportunities for tribal people, and to develop positive functions of tribal bridging social capital continuously; (4) to elaborate transfer functions of bridging and linking social capital, in order to reduce the threats on inform relationship because of financial problems; (5) to build tribal democratic mechanism of transparence, in order to reduce the damage of struggle for power and resources on tribal people; and (6) to be best use of external resources as an agent for tribal self-reliance, in order to avoid involving in the spiral of economic dependence. |
