The research aimed to investigate the perspectives of teachers andcommercial circles on Exit English Exam (EEE) based on a university of science and technology. The researcher made use of Focus Group Interview to collect the information. In the research the researcher interviewed the 8 faculties, and some of them are also administrators and 6 commercial circles. The finds indicated (1) 71% participants approved of enacting the EEE, but 29% of them opposed it. The proponents believed that setting up the EEE can be beneficial to the English ability of the students. On the contrary, in the opinion of opponents to have the EEE is just a torture to the students .The benchmark is too high for them to pass and discourages them, especially for the non-English related department students. ( 2) According to the EEE, the students are eligible to join the remedial measure unless they have taken the required exam outside the school twice. It may cause the heavy financial burden to the students. However, in the research up to 75% of the faculties still considered that it is necessary for the students to follow the code.(3) Enacting the EEE may cause "teaching to the test ", but the participants all had a positive attitude toward it.( 4) 87.5% faculties believed that the remedial measure is useless for the low English level students. It is just a waste and a loophole. Finally, according to the result of the research, the researcher came up with some suggestions for the reference of the EEE related faculties in the school and the researchers interested in the EEE field. The researcher hopes the research will be conducive to the Institution of Science and Technology to enact and Keywords: Exit English Exam (EEE), Focus Group Interview, remedial measure,University of Science and Technology implement the EEE in the future. |
