A number of novels feature on history bloomed in Taiwan Literature after 1937,and the story of “Koxinga” was popular among both Taiwanese and Japanese novelists.The stories of “Koxinga” have been spread in different ways throughout Japan, Taiwan,China, and even West Europe. Through born in Japan, “Koxinga” Cheng Ch’engkungis a historical character, whom not only belongs to Taiwan. In this paper, I willdiscuss the social and philosophical meaning of “Koxinga”’s storyforming prosses, fromeighteenth century to early twentieth century, the period when the image of “Koxinga”appeared in early modern Japanese literature to the interwar 1940s . Secondly, byregarding Nishikawa Mitsuru’s “Sekikanki” as one part of the genealogy of “Koxinga” inJapan and China, and also as a intertextualized result with Sato Haruo’s “Jokaisenkitan”,I will discuss the connection between local identity and writing desire of Japanese peoplewho were in Taiwan in interwar time through their narrative strategies. |
