Chiao Hsun, a distinguished thinker in the Ching Dynasty, had developed a formal and systematic interpretation of 'I Ching' in respect of the rules of change between the sixty four hexagrams. This interpretation had been presented in its most concise form in one of his most famous 'Three Books on I Ching' ---- 'Diagrams of Hexagramic Change'. Unfortunately the text of this book is faulty, and its correction needs earlier manuscripts or printed versions without faults. Again, there exists no such manuscripts or printed version for any reliable textual criticism to proceed. In our age, fortunately this time, the development of computer programming languages enables us to test the validity of the rules of change between hexagrams. On this basis, we can go further to investigate the interrelationship between the five different diagrams and the different rules involved. |
