Recreationist's perceived need - satisfaction levels provided by various outdoor recreation activities are appropriate measures of its .attractiveness. In this paper, the need-satisfying characteristics of recreation activities were investigated. Four activity groups were derived by cluster analysis technique based on the similarity of those need-satisfying capabilities. The disaggregate recreation activity choice models were calibrated using the need-satisfying capabilities and participating cost as explanatory variables. The activity choice models were also constructed for different population segments to examine possible effects of recreationists' socio-economic characteristics on their preferences toward outdoor recreation activities. |
