Commitment maintenance is a major key to long term same sex couple relationships. It is also an important indicator of the stability of couple relationships. The present study used snowballing method to distribute questionnaires through internet. The author aimed to explore how lesbians' external pressure, family acceptance, and lesbian identity influence their commitment maintenance. Five hundred and eighteen valid questionnaires were collected. The results showed that lesbian identity are affected by external pressure and family acceptance, and they also have a positive effect on lesbian couple relationship commitment maintenance. Yet, external pressure has only indirect influence on their relationship commitment maintenance. It seems that once a lesbian has higher lesbian identity, there will be less influence from external pressure on their couple relationship. |
