The origin of Chu-Hu salt flat in Qieding is due to the national policy of industrial salt production at the end of Japanese ruling period, and it only existed more slightly than forty years. Additionally, it was smallest salt flat which produced industrial salt in Taiwan. Nevertheless, in Qieding coast, aquaculture is mainly industry and it has established since seventeenth century. Therefore, Qieding salt flat effected inevitably on regional industrial structure and landscape. First at all, this finding would like to express the development of traditional industry of Qieding from seventeenth century. Next, the author would explore the national policy of salt production during Japanese ruling period. At last, this finding would like to discuss these influences on regional culture of industry, landscape, and native. |
