The study intended to examine the theoretical-driven intervention effect of a group treatment for peoplewho lost their family members from cancer. Based on meaning reconstruction theory, the group was designed as two-hour, weekly, and semi-structured meeting sessions for six weeks. Undersingle-case designmethod, the SF-36 Taiwan version was used to measure the effect of the group interventionon the participants in terms of physical, psychological and social well-being improvement. Qualitative analysis was used to record meaning reconstruction process. After intervention, adjustment of group members improved, and the scores of vitality (VT) and social functioning (SF) increased statistically significant. The study confirmed the meaning reconstructive grief intervention worked for bereaved individual. Finally, the implications of the study are included. |
