Due to the importance of the exercise to our health, this study attempted to find out theinfluences of the parent-child fitness-play curriculum to parent-child relationships. The parent-childfitness-play curriculum has been designed. It took about 110 minutes once a week for ten weeks intotal. Twenty parents and their preschoolers and / or elementary children joined in the program.Based on the pre- and post survey, the quantitative data has been collected, the focus groupdiscussions and individual interviews had been recorded as the qualitative data. The transcripts ofthe interviews are typed, coded and categorized. The results showed that after the program, parentsadmire and communicate better with their kids. Parents learn how to interact with their kidsthrough play. This parent-child fitness-play program support parents have a stable time and place todo exercise with their kids which increase not only the physical but also the spiritual linkagesamong the family members. These findings help us to have a better understanding of theparent-child fitness program’s benefits. It can also be a good reference for the schools,communities and the health center to prove parent-child fitness programs. |
