Shanghai Science & Technology Museum was opened to the public on Dec. 18th, 2001 and it is the largest science museum in China. Until the end of the year 2002, the number of its visitors has amounted to near 2.7 million. This research paper is based on the statistical analysis of the 693 effective questionnaires collected from the visitors during February to September, 2002, in order to know the basic information and behavior of visitors and their degree of satisfaction to all the museum facilities and services. The result of the research shows that their best/deepest images of the museum is that the building is orderly, while the environment and the service ranked the last. They felt most satisfied with the Galleries of 'Spectrum of Life'' and 'Light of Wisdom'' while they felt most unsatisfied with the Gallery of 'Cradle of Designer'. Visitors in the year 2002 came from all corners of the land, but the majority of visitors are young people and children from Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang Provinces. Civil servants, professionals, technicians and office clerks take the main part in regards of their family background. Most of the visitors' families have a monthly income above 1500 RMB up to 4000 RMB. This paper further uses mathematical methods to analyze the pertinence among some of the visitors' behaviors and the types of the visitors and also analyzes the research method and the future development of the museum. |
