Our understanding of New Cultural Movement has largely inherited the discourse created and handed down to us from the May Fourth generation, especially those of the New Youth magazine intellectuals. Recently a new trend of re-thinking and re-writing literary history has urged us to reconsider what happened in that period and its possible alterative meaning. A new perspective thus created has asked for new revaluation of the significance of New Cultural Movement. This article attempts to look into the interrelation between The Critical Review and New Cultural Movement, and reconsider the essence and significance of New Cultural Movement. |
