The purpose of this study was to describe our estimation and certification of a case of osteopetrosis. The 52 years old female patient has visited our hospital due to lower back pain 28 years ago. The X -ray image showing rugger-jersey spine (Fig. 1) led a favor of osteopetrosis at that time. Besides, the rheumatoid arthritis (RA) was highly suspected due to joint pain and other symptoms in Nov 1997. The elevated liver function (G0T=968 IU/L, GPT=868 IU/L) was detected in Aug 2000. After admission, the hepatitis C was noted, but no natural course changing in RA was found by image study. Neither some criteria of RA including arthritis of three or more joints, swelling of MCP (metacarpophalangeal) and wrist, symmetric joint swe11ing and subcutaneous nodules were found. Our work shows that her osteopetrosis is favored and the RA is excluded, and suggests an identification access to osteopetrosis. |
