About 25 to 80% of patients with systemic lupus erythematous had neurological complications, including seizure, psychosis, peripheral neuropathy, stroke, transverse myelitis and hydrocephalus. In review of the literatures, simultaneous occurrence of transverse myelitis and hydrocephalus had never been reported. We present a 40-year-old woman complicated with transverse myelitis and hydrocephalus 3 months after the diagnosis of systemic lupus erythematous. The possible pathogenesis of this manifestation of SLE was discussed. |
