Authors had made a survey of personality traits on arthropathic patient by means of mailing the Ko's Mental Health Questionnaire (KMHQ), a good reliable measurement tool for personality trait survey in Taiwan, to 156 patients diagnosed definitely in accordance of American Rheumatism Association's diagnostic criteriae for arthropathies at the Division of Allergy- Immunology-Rheumatology of VGH-Tiachung within 2 years prior to this study. By one month of interval from April 10, 1984, there had sent back 76 questionnaires from patient and 15 from the post offices because of errous address or moving out. Therefore, the response rate of this study was equal to 53.9% After check up of patients' answer, we rejected 5 patients due to missing answer above one fifth or more of questionnaire items. The first step of analyzing 71 patients is to see how reliable at answers. We had chosen the oddeven items half- split reliability test and modified with Spearman-Brown formula for the 11 subscales of KMHO. The final results of r seemed to be highly satisfactorily (ranging from 0.4816 for Aggression Scale to 0.9169 for Anxiety Scale) at this study. It meant that there had a good reliable in internal consistency of KMHQ among the arthropathic patients. We found there did not reveal a significant difference of response mean score in each scale of KMHQ between rheumatoid and non-rheumatoid arthritic patients, indicating a homogenous personality traits. However, if divided patients into four groups (RA, AS, GA & Others), there had only significant difference in the Self-confidence Scale among them. |
