Over the past three hundred years, the outstanding female writers of classical poetry in China or Taiwan are rare, and even fewer in few Taiwan. Wu Yu-ting (1897-1997) traveled to Taiwan from Fujian by chance, and had the honor to blossom and be crowned with eternal glory in female classical calligraphy art field in Taiwan. However, during that period of time, her experience over time and across borders led her through huge turmoil, even made her heart connect to infinite deep sorrow. How did she heal her sorrow and cure her creative mind in every new living environment? This paper observes the influences of the situations in three places (Fujian, Chongqing and Taiwan) , where she lived relative long during the course of her life, on her literature, and probes into the evolution process of turmoil on her creative mind and healing sorrow. Wu devoted her life to breaking through the artistic concept of poem calligraphy, making the artistic conception of poem calligraphy fuse and unify with personality. Noble personality contributes to profound meaning and compactness affords for thought. She persisted in her virtues and stayed self-restraint; her works show the features of paying equal attention to personality and artistic style, and are recognized as masterpieces. Her works have both the mood of Jiannan literature and the charm of Linchuan literature, with multiple styles of thinness, coldness, delicacy and elegance as well as the beauty of sentiments full of peace and sadness. |
