This paper intends to exam the date of Chu His’s Collected Works, Chapter 65 and Shang-shu related articles. These articles can be divided into four categories: Section A, from 'Kung's Preface' to 'Ta-yü-mo'; these are exegetical articles which were completed after 1199;Section D, 'Wu Ch'engjih-yüeh p'u' and 'K'ao-ting Wu Ch'eng jih-yüeh hsü,' written after 1198; Section B, 'Chin T'eng Shuo' and Section C, 'Chao-kao-hsti,' to 'Lo-kao;' these two sections were probably written before 1199 and represent Chu Hsi 's early interpretations. In addition, m Section A, when we discuss the date of compilation, we found that Ts'ai Shen was ordered by Chu Hsi to write 'Shu-chi-chuan,' in the winter of 1199. In fact, both Chu Hsi and Ts'ai Shen met in early 1200. In other words, it was written 90 days before Chu Hsi's death. Their discussions covered all of the Shang Shu. |
