In terms of a dialogue with Heidegger's thinking, this paper tries to argue for the inclusion of Taoist Classics as core curriculum in general education. In order to support such a thesis, some of the possible hermeneutical applications of Taoism to modem soicety have been indicated. Particularly, it will show in which manner through the thoughtful reading of Taoist classics that students can be expected to develop their sense of orientation in the technological age. One will see that the Taoist 'topological thinking' not only can counter-balance 'calulative thinking' in the Heideggerian sense, but also can contribute to a deeper understanding of the essence of technology. |
