Militants or Partisans is a long-awaited book, for two obvious reasons. Since the publication of Beneath the Miracle (Deyo 1989), Militants or Partisans is the first intra-regional, cross-national comparative work on East Asia's labor. A 22-year gap between Beneath the Miracle and Militants or Partisans suffices to make the latter a must-read for students of labor studies and East Asian research.
